Use of information, data protection and Internet privacy

UMALL aims to secure the privacy of visitors to our website as much as possible. The security of information that is communicated through the Internet can, however, not be guaranteed. In the following sections, you will find a general description of the data that is collected at UMALL websites and the way UMALL uses it.

Personal data

UMALL collects and processes personal data, among which name, address, telephone number, e-mail address or other data, only when this is passed on voluntarily on the website of UMALL. UMALL or the companies UMALL collaborates with, process the data you provided, to improve the level of service and the content of the website. For example, to update material on the website, provide the information you requested, ask your opinion about our services and internal purposes, in general. In conformity with the current law in the area of protection of personal data (in the Netherlands, this is the Personal Data Protection Act), it can occur that you have the right to receive a copy of the data we collected of you, to correct possible inaccuracies in that data, from UMALL (the party responsible).

Other data

For the benefit of internal management and statistics, UMALL can also process data that cannot be traced back to individuals, like for example, the amount of visits to our website, the number of visitors to every page of our websites and the IP addresses of the Internet service providers of our visitors. We use this data, which remains anonymous, to gain insight into the way our visitors use the websites, so we can improve those websites. We can also share this data with other UMALL companies.

Links to other websites

As a service to our users, UMALL websites can contain links to other websites of UMALL and to websites of third parties, over whom UMALL has no control. The privacy policy described here does not apply to these sites.

Cookies

UMALL can place a “cookie” in the hard drive of your computer. Cookies are small text files that provide us with information about the number of times someone visits our site and what he or she does during these visits. Cookies do not contain personal data, but when you provide us with information, for example by registering, this personal data can be linked to the information saved in the cookie.

Security

UMALL works with protected data networks that are protected by firewall and password protection. UMALL takes suitable measures to protect your personal data. For that purpose, UMALL has implemented security measures to protect against loss, abuse and changes in your personal data we have in our possession. Except for the exceptions below, only authorized employees have access to the data you provide us with. Furthermore, there are strict rules for the employees of UMALL that have access to the databases where the personal data is stored or to the servers that host our services. Although we cannot guarantee that loss, abuse or changes of personal data will occur we will do everything, within reason, to prevent this.

Sharing personal data with third parties

UMALL will not sell or rent out personal data for any purpose whatsoever. However, under the following circumstances UMALL can decide to release your personal data to third parties:

Sometimes UMALL makes use of carefully selected third parties to provide supporting services to our websites. From time to time, UMALL can give these third parties access to your personal data to enable them to provide their services to UMALL. UMALL assures you that all companies that provide these supporting services are obliged to meet the same high standard in the area of protection of personal data.

When we feel that is it necessary to release personal data to identify someone, contact someone or start a legal procedure to someone who is causing, has caused or threatens to cause damage to UMALL, otherwise infringes or threatens to infringe the rights of UMALL, or when a wrongful act is committed against you or third parties.

When the law requires this or at the request of the police and/or justice in relation with an investigation or a crime, or requested by civil or administrative bodies in relation with a pending civil case or an administrative request, all this in conformity with the law.

Changes

When UMALL thinks it is necessary, its privacy policy can change. All changes made to this privacy policy will be passed on through this page at once.
